Hasia Diner, Professor of Hebrew and Judaic Studies and History at NYU, discusses her forthcoming book Roads taken: The Great Jewish Migrations to the New World and the Peddlers Who Forged the Way. Diner tells the story of millions of young Jewish men whose peddling propelled a mass migration of Jewish families seeking opportunities abroad, leaving parents, wives, and sweethearts behind.
