The Department of Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature is seeking paper presentations and panel proposals from scholars in the humanities and social sciences that consider the existence and effects of paraspaces in a range of discourses, including but not limited to literary narratives, graphic narratives, historical and current events, film and television productions, video games, and other digital media.
Presentation and panel topics might consider paraspaces in connection with:
Articulation Theory and Practice
(Dis)ability and (Dis)embodiment
Fandom and Reception Theory
Global and Local Politics
Heterotopias and “Spaces Otherwise”
Nationhood and Transnationalism
Submission Guidelines: To propose a 20-minute presentation or full panel, please submit an abstract of no more than 250 words as a Word document to catgradconf[at]gmail.com. Include your name, contact information, and university affiliation in your email and your abstract heading.
Deadline for Submission: 1 September 2016.
Invitations to participate will be issued by 12 September 2016
