Meg Jacobs will discuss her new book Panic at the Pump: The Energy Crisis and the Transformation of American Politics in the 1970s (Hill and Wang, 2016) on Wednesday, October 19 (6:00 PM) at the Tamiment Library. A reception with wine and cheese will follow the lecture. This event is sponsored by the Center for the United States and the Cold War.
Meg Jacobs is a visiting associate professor of history at Columbia University and a research scholar at the Woodrow Wilson School of International and Public Affairs at Princeton University.  Her book, Panic at the Pump: The Energy Crisis and the Transformation of American Politics in the 1970s, appeared in April 2016 and explores the complex nature of American energy policy. She is the author of Pocketbook Politics: Economic Citizenship in Twentieth-Century America andConservatives in Power: The Reagan Years.
