The Reckoning
A Conference on Climate Justice
March 10 and 11, 2017 at NYU

Humanity is facing a global climate emergency, and we must act now to address the environmental, economic and political issues contributing to the problem. The Reckoning: A Climate Justice Conference will be held March 10 and 11, 2017, and aims to mobilize individuals and groups across disciplines and practices. The conference will feature some of the leading figures in the environmental movement as well as leaders from diverse fields such as climate science, medicine, public policy and the arts, as well as elected officials and impacted citizens.

Create the anthem for our conference and documentary

All NYU students are encouraged to submit a song (demo and lyrics) which explores or is inspired by the issue of Climate Justice. The winner of the competition will get a chance to record their song and have it performed live at the conference alongside an A-list performer. All submissions are due to Nikki Mirasola via email at by December 16, 2016. The winner will be selected by January 1, 2017. All songwriting contest inquiries may be directed to Nikki Mirasola.

A Call to Action: Artists Demanding Climate Justice

All NYU students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to create thematically-relevant projects to be considered for the conference. Films, photography, poetry, music, dance, fine arts or installations are ALL welcome. Selected works will be showcased throughout the conference and should be adaptable to different spaces on campus. Any live performance or audio/video works are not to exceed 3 minutes. Submissions are due January 23, 2017 at 11:59pm and notifications will be sent by February 1, 2017.
